The official Spanish diploma from Instituto Cervantes — the most widely recognised proof of your Spanish level anywhere in the world. What the exam looks like
The DELE has one version for each of the six levels of the Common European Framework, from A1 to C2, and it always tests the same four skills:

You pass with 60% of the total score, split into two groups (comprehension and expression); each group has to be passed separately. The diploma has unlimited validity, and there are also versions specifically for teenagers aged 11 to 17.

- First, a free level test. We see where you stand and which exam level is right for you.
- One-to-one classes. This is the Abbey method: all the class time is yours, and the plan is built around the level you need.
- All four skills equally, because you have to pass the comprehension group and the expression group separately — being confident speaking isn’t enough if one of the other skills falls short.
- Correction of your written expression using the same criteria examiners use to score, tailored to what each student needs.
- Speaking in every class. Classes are taught in Spanish, so you’re speaking the whole time. On top of that, we practise the exact exam tasks: conversation, presentation or debate, depending on the level.
- Full, timed mock exams in the final stretch, so you walk into the real thing with no surprises.
- Flexible scheduling, arranged directly with your teacher.

What DELE level do I need for Spanish nationality?
The DELE A2 is one of the usual requirements for nationality by residence. The free level test tells you where you stand and what’s left to do.
Do I need previous Spanish study to sit the exam?
No, anyone can register for any DELE level without having done a previous course or exam.
Does the diploma expire?
No, DELE diplomas have unlimited validity.
Do you register me for the exam?
Registration is done at an exam centre accredited by Instituto Cervantes. Students usually handle this themselves, but we’re happy to help if you need it.
